I have always been a “yes” girl when it comes to fashion. Over the years exploring personal style, I’ve embraced the majority of trends and styles emanating from the runway and often inspired by street style. I was conscious enough to shop high street and not spend too much on trends but on the down side, I ended up with pieces that I wore for a season then I was either not feeling it or the excitement of the trend fizzled.
Whether from trend exhaustion or the need to discover my signature style, I have found myself drifting away from trends and back to the understated simplicity of neutrals and basic outfits. Rather than conform, I’m redefining adjectives like cool, stylish and fashionable to fit my perception and also focusing more on classic pieces and better fabrics.
It’s not really about what’s trending but rather what gives you that healthy dose of confidence. Edgy neutrals and minimal jewelry are it for me. I like neutrals, a lot. It’s that simple. Forget what culture or the runway dictates. And while the occasional deviation is almost guaranteed, identifying what really gives you confidence is the foundation of a functional wardrobe.
