Plain

monochrome black

A couple of years ago I would have been of the mindset that all-black outfits are extreme and morbidly boring. Yet sometimes I just want to wear black. Head-to-toe black, in fact. To get around the sometimes dowdy boring look that goes with all-black outfits, I use a simple trick of varying season appropriate fabrics and textures. With this look I contrasted hard textures of a leather skirt and edgy heels against soft ones of a cashmere turtleneck and velvet fedora. Black ties the individual pieces together while the textures cleverly break up the palette creating a very cool, dramatic outfit.

Skirt: Newlook || Turtleneck: Neiman Marcus || Heels: Alexander Wang Freja (here) || Watch: Vintage Casio || Fedora: F21

I’m getting more used to wear all black these days than I used to before. It’s such an elegant color.. I love this outfit and your shoes

    • Thanks Michelle. You wear a lot of color but lately you’ve also been leaning towards black. It looks so elegant on you, especially that black dress paired with the wide hat.

  • I have the same attitude towards black nowadays…I used to all black outfits. I love the Wang’s they are giving this outfit so much edge.
