Hibiscus and Rhassoul Clay

bentonite clay for hair

I invented something. Really, I did. A couple of weeks ago I did a rendition of the Terresentials muds wash (video here) and had some left overs in the fridge. I combined that with left overs from the hibiscus petal powder experience (video here). I figured since the hibiscus is a mild cleanser it would play well with Bentonite clay. And lo and behold, I may have stumbled upon the perfect recipe for hair cleansing. The bentonite clay significantly improved hibiscus’s clinging abilities.  Post-rinsed hair felt clean and conditioned with very defined curls.

There was more of the hibiscus petal than the Bentonite clay in this recipe which makes sense since bentonite clay swells a lot. Many things could have created the results I got. The bentonite clay used, the mixing ingredients, changes in temperature due to refrigeration and mixing the powders separately first before combining them. I am delighted with this mix and will continue to explore it. Maybe I can add shikakai and aritha for an awesome cleansing mud.
