Hi everyone! I hope summer/winter has been great for you! I apologize for abandoning the hive but it was a much needed break to visit family in Nairobi. I’m back now with lots of fresh new content and a whole new journey to growing this TWA.
All products, whether commercial or homemade, can lead to build up on the scalp and strands. Conditioners meant to protect and nourish the hair along with stylizers that aid in holding styles work by coating the hair shaft. As product build up accumulates on the hair shaft it becomes a barrier to any other product used on the hair.
The frequency of oiling hair is really a matter of personal choice. Once a week seems to be the ideal for my hair. I use some type of Ayurveda mud on my hair weekly and overnight oiling is my main method of not only protecting against some of the drying effects of the muds but also the perfect opportunity to nourish and detangle my hair.
4C is the epitome of tangle-prone textures… well at least I think mine is. On the other hand, 4C makes up for that troublesome nature by being the most versatile and unique of all textures. In the interest of keeping as much of my hair as I grow each month (slightly over a quarter inch),
